I think there is a lot of truth in what you say...I've been on hubpages for a while now with nothing to show for it. so I've decided to diversify and write on other adsense sharing sites as well.
I am sticking with HubPages
I am sticking with HubPages as my main site for putting my writings on and earning money at because for me personally it is still the best for this. Like everyone else I have taken a drop in earnings since the Google algorithm changes in February but still make more at HubPages than I do at other sites.

Hubpages is a great place to start learning about making money online and possibly a great site for actually making money online. I like Hubpages, but I must admit that I like Seekyt better (because of the community, interesting features, and help offered by the administartor there). Writing on more than one site is always a better choice; it increases the potential to earn and helps with backlinks :)

Having read your article I do sympathize that you feel you have tried and had little returns using hub pages. However if I am honest 100 in 3 years really isn't much of a commitment.
I use Squidoo lenses in much the same way, and while I have only created just over 30 lenses I have written over a thousand articles that point toward them. On top of this for every article I have placed them on 10 article submission sites which instantly means I have 10,000 articles that are able to be viewed by members as well as being picked up by the search engines and ranked for peoples search terms.
The icing on the cake is the fact that each article submission site is scoured by other article submission sites, blog owners etc for new and interesting content for their sites. They have to link back to the original article or they infringe copyrights. So this means that a single article could be being placed in a thousand places all over the Internet from a single posting. I'll leave you to do the math.
Plus your articles will be online indefinitely and will possibly outlive you. How amazing is that. Making money online means you have to be serious about being serious. It is not a hobby and before long the money will start rolling in, and once it does...
