Guy Lafleur first appeared on a hockey card in the 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee series. Number 148, however, was not in the Topps series that season. Typically, the Topps and O-Pee-Chee sets were mirrors of each other but there were exceptions, Lafleur’s rookie card being one of them. The card is considered an uncorrected error card (UER). His last name on both the front and back of the card is misspelled La Fleur. O-Pee-Chee made this similar mistake with other French-Canadian players in that series.
The Guy Lafleur rookie card is valued at a low of $75 and a high of $200 according to Beckett Hockey. Interestingly, the card sold for considerably more on recent eBay auctions. One card went for $260 and another blew that away, selling for $460. Other cards sold in the $100 range. As a rule on eBay, cards sell for less than the Beckett value. This was not the case for the 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee #148.
