Since the April 4th earthquake that registered a 7.2 in Baja, the entire region has been shaking. Well, the activity has really picked up today. There is no way to predict what will happen, but I wanted to share the data for people that live in the area. I think its pretty significant. I'm only listing the 2.5+ magnitude earthquakes from California and Mexico. There are MANY more that have registered under 2.5. This list is from newest to oldest in the last 24 hours.

Violence on the border of Mexico and Arizona has gotten worse recently. The Pinal County Sheriff has stated that he is outgunned and out manned by the drug cartels from Mexico, and doesn't have control over all of his county. Parts of public lands have been closed to US citizens because of the violence. However, border cities like Nogales have not seen an increase in crime.

I remember when I was growing up as a child, it seemed like everybody assumed whenever we heard someone speaking Spanish, that they must be Mexican. I guess that is a reasonable assumption, seeing as though the United States shares the southern border with Mexico and that there are certainly indeed Mexicans everywhere throughout the world, not just in Mexico and the United States! The Philippine Marines on Monday activated a special unit that will be used in the campaign against terrorists and other lawless elements in the southern Philippine provinces of Sulu and Basilan.

The team, however, is not composed of elite, battle-ready soldiers, but of freshly trained Belgian Malinois and Labradors.

“K-9 will be a valuable asset to the Marine units with its senses of sight, smell and hearing that enhance detection capabilities and provide commanders with a physical and psychological deterrent to enemy activity," said Marine spokesman Capt. Alden Gwyn Amargo.
