Coalition Government in India

Coalition governments have been rather a rule than an exception in the Indian politics, especially over the last two decades. Even at the Central government level, India has had a tryst with coalition government in 1977, long before coalition became a commonplace word in Indian politics.

So, how is the overall experience with coalition governments in India?

Actually it has been a story of failures, interspersed with a couple of success stories. However much spin doctors tout the advantages of coalition governments, especially with the oft-repeated (and abused)reason - INCLUSIVENESS - coalition governments have been more of a disaster than success.
