As a child I would often wish that I were the only child of the family. Then there would be no comparison, no one to complain about my mischief and most of all no one to share my candy and chocolates. Yes I am not ashamed of saying that I would often be jealous of her. I used to think my parents love her way more than they love me. But then I was just a kid. I had every right to be immature and irrational.

Now I am 25 and she is 30. When I look back I know I love her so much because we have a history together. Good times, and bad. And through it all (our childhood and now as grown adults) she has been by my side. She is the only person who has and will ever understand me. She was right there watching me grow up beside her. She does annoy, interfere, criticize but if catastrophe strikes I know she will be defending me against all comers. We know one another's faults, virtues, catastrophes, mortifications, triumphs, rivalries, and desires.

Being an only child can be either good or bad, depending on how you perceive it and how you are brought up by your parents. The advantages could be that you get the undivided love and attention of your parents. They would dote on you more and provide for you more - in terms of getting you stuff, toys, etc. Obviously, being an only child means that your parents have only you to spend the money on and not have to share it among other siblings. So, you'd get more toys than normal, more money to spend than normal, etc. So, in that sense, being the only child can be termed as a good thing.

Do we really want our kids to watch shows created for adults. I mean I know there are hidden messages in just about everything dealing with life but the world is already bad enough. Please help me do something about such things as bringing back quality television for our children and teens. If we expose our kids to this now what do you think they will be like when they get to be our age? Part of how I am today came from the actions my parents took when I was a child in raising me. I will admit I am not a bad person nor am I perfect but I at least know right from wrong and this is so wrong.

We are all social animals. Not many of us think about prisons. Why is prison life a punishment? Because you cannot move around and meet people. With friendship, we break the barrier that stops us sharing our life with others. During early childhood, only mother is enough. But observe the pain on the face of a child who has no friends to play with, and you will realize why friends are so important? Why does even a small child need friends? He/she can surely play with parents and enjoy life?
