A trigger can be defined as something that creates anxiety in a person. Some people are triggered by the same things, but some people have certain triggers that other people have a hard time understanding.

One of my triggers for example, is sitting at a desk or table with an open book, a pen, and paper. This causes me to feel very anxious, and I usually have to stop and take several deep breaths before I can finish whatever it is that I am doing. Talking on the phone is also one of my triggers. I usually have to psyche myself up before making a phone call of any kind.
