Has your family history research turned up any black sheep, or, on the other side of the coin, any blue bloods? Or perhaps a connection to a famous person of our generation?

Black Sheep

Many of us who have done family history research have found someone among our ancestors or their siblings, somewhere along the way, who got into trouble with the law. Some of these, although quite infamous at the time, with the passing of many years have attained what amounts to the status of a folk hero. Take, for example, Jesse James - an outlaw who is forever in the annals of American folklore.

Blue Bloods

Many family history researchers may find that they are descended from "blue bloods" – people in the nobility and royalty - as I am through another family line.

CBS has picked up the series "Reagan's Law" and renamed it "Blue Bloods". The show centers around a family of New York cops starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, and is written and executive produced by Mitchell Burgess. Burgess served as executive producer and writer on "The Sopranos".

Filming will commence this Summer, 2010 and take place at CBS Studios in New York, as well as on-location in the New York metro area.

Each sheep is slightly different (of course) but Anna has herded them into four flocks.

Betty is from a flock of white sheep with black heads & feet.(the quiet one)
Doris is from a flock of black sheep with gold heads & feet. (very fetching)
Tammy is from a flock of white sheep with a crackled finish & gold heads & feet (the independent one).
Mary is from a flock of sheep with a gold finish and black head & feet. (there is always one who wants to be noticed).

Height ~ 3.0 inches. Length ~ 3.5 inches.

Whether you want a basic family tree, or a full family history, the first thing that you need to remember is that your most important resource is your family. Consider the people ~ your ancestors ~ who are just names to you, but who may have been living breathing people to your grandparents. In time, there will be all sorts of family history records for you to search, but none will be able to give you exactly what your aunts and uncles can provide. So prioritise! People first!
