Have you ever thought about why you love God?Most Christians when asked this question will respond pretty much in a similar way,which is very striking to me.The problem I have with it is that it was never personal but quoting scripture.Today I wish to give you 3 reasons why I love God.
1.I love God for his Grace and Mercy toward me. Growing up on the rough side of the tracks where death was daily,robbery was on every corner,and fighting for things that was yours was looked upon as getting respect,you can't help but look back and know that it was nothing but the Grace of God that brought you through.I remember being 16 yrs old and coming home from school and 2 guys approached me to give them whatever money I had in my pocket.I found out quickly that not only did they want my money,but my life as well.As one of the guys became agitated that I didn't have anything to give them he quickly pulled a gun,place it to my face,called me names, and pulled the trigger.My life was over!It just so happen that the gun jammed and he couldn't get it to shoot.Instead I was beaten with it and spent 2 weeks in the hospital.Now at the age of 40 and looking back I knew it wasn't nothing but the Grace Of God that spared me.Each morning that I get up now I can't help but Thank Him because he didn't have to spare me that day.
2.I love God because of his unconditional love toward me. Being a person who has messed up so many times I have lost friends and family along the way.Sometimes friends and family put so much expectations on you where if you disappoint them they will take it personal and won't speak to you for years.So many people have lost contact with family members because of pride or something foolish.I thank God that he is not like that.Everyday of my life I do something I have no business doing in the eyesight of God.Whether it is on purpose or not I mess up.But because of his unconditional love toward me he always pick me up and let me know that he loves me.Can you imagine loving a person that wrongs you every day?That's why each day we have to grow in Christ.To think like him, and to try and live the life that he has instructed us to live.
3.I love God because of what he did on the Cross for me. The greatest thing that has ever happened is Jesus shedding his blood on Calvery.Giving me a right to have fellowship with the father through him is an awesome thing.Knowing that he paid the death penalty that I was suppose to pay is the greatest gift anyone could give.Now when it is all said and done,he has given me the gift above all gifts and that is to spend eternal with him.I just want to say Thank You!
