It seems like the time we are living in can be more identified with fakeness. Most people appear to be unhappy with themselves and believe that the problem is with how they look. They assume that if they change how they look they will be happy. Such people have believed a lie that beauty looks a particular way.
The plastic surgery and cosmetic industry, helped by the media hype, has consequently become a booming business. Unfortunately it has also attracted quacks who are exploiting this fascination with fakeness. The quacks have realized that there are people who will do anything to look like something that they are not.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), nearly 7.2 million women had cosmetic procedures in 2003, a 16 percent increase from 2002. More surprising though is that there were over 1.1 million men who underwent different plastic surgery procedures. This was a 31% increase from 2002. Liposuction was the number one surgery for both genders, with breast augmentation being next for women.
