On December 3oth, 2009, the New York Times investigation reported that many of our beef products here in the United have ammonia used in the processing of the beef. Many of the hamburgers we eat at fast food had ammonia injected for the sake of infection control and cost savings. The story is absolutely fascinating but it may forever change your taste buds for a hamburger at the local fast food restaurant. The end goal should be better disclosure to the consumer of not just the ingredients that our foods contain but also the processing process and the chemicals used in the processing of food.
