Hosta Sieboldiana is a species of Hosta which is known for its large size, textured leaves, and frequent blue coloration. There are many varieties of this species one of which is Hosta Frances Williams.

Although many of these plants are large there is also a selection of medium, small, and even miniature Sieboldianas to choose from. They also come in a wide variety of colors. Blue is popular but you can get plants that are solid colored or variegated. The plants range is colors from blue and green to yellow and white.

General care for most varieties of Hosta Sieboldiana include lots of water, well drained soil, and occasional fertilizer. The sun or shade requirements vary by variety. Some types require total shade others do fine in full sun so check the type you are interested in before running out and spending a lot of money for plants that will not do well in your garden setting.

Sieboldiana Hostas are normally shade plants. The leaves can burn when planted in direct sunlight which is why you often find plants of this type in older shade gardens.
