This book gives good insight into the culture of the Ozark Mountain region. It's a book about meth, crime and kinfolk in Ozarks region just outside of Branson, Missouri.
Like most people who come here from elsewhere, I came for the economic opportunities, safety and good life that Branson represents. I read this book in an effort to try to understand the hillbilly culture that still thrives on the outskirts of The Neon City.
It is dominated by two forces: Methamphetamines and Christianity. These two things go together like bread and butter in this area. It is very common to meet local people who were formerly involved in meth, but who experienced some miraculous conversion.
