Bookmark and Share Cool VL Viewer, From Legacy to Windlight Renderer

When I started using this computer, the only Second Life viewer that will run on it is the Legacy Renderer version of the Cool VL Viewer which is based on Second Life Viewer version 1.19.0.5. That was before I installed my old video card. Installing it greatly improved the graphics performance of this computer and, because of that, I’ve decided to switch from the Legacy Renderer (SL 1.19.0.5) version of Cool VL Viewer to the Windlight Renderer (SL 1.23.5) version of Cool VL Viewer.

Kirstens Viewer S21(4) Crashes While Loading and How to Fix It 1 year 13 weeks ago

With my new computer, I decided to download and install the latest version of Kirstens Viewer. I stopped using this viewer before because it hates old computers. My current computer is now powered by an AMD Phenom X6 Processor and uses a Video Card from the ATI 5700 Series. I guess, I can say I am more confident to run Kirstens Viewer now than my previous Celeron powered computer. Kirstens Viewer kind of laid a smack down on me the last time I used.

I have at least 11 Third Party Viewers installed in my computer. One of these viewers is the Kirstens Viewer by KirstenLee Cinquetti. This viewer was first introduced to me by a friend in Second Life many, many months ago. I think I was having some framerate issues with Snowglobe back then and that was when this friend of mine told me to try it out. I’ve already forgotten what version of Kirsten Viewer it was but it was way before Second Life Viewer 2.

Ascent Viewer is a new Third Party Viewer for the virtual world of Second Life. If my understanding is correct, the Ascent Viewer is based on the Inertia Viewer, a non-TPV policy compliant viewer, by Hazim Gazov whose website, http://iheartanime.com, was a recent victim of a DDoS attack by the owner of Modular Systems and the Emerald Viewer. I learned about this viewer, Ascent Viewer, from a forum thread at SLUniverse where a link to Ascent Viewer’s website was posted.

The fall out of the Emerald Viewer gave birth to other Third Party Viewers and one of this is the Ascent Viewer. Unlike the Phoenix Viewer which is a fork of the Emerald Viewer, the Ascent Viewer is a fork of the Inertia Viewer which is a viewer that has griefing and copybot features. These features are no longer present or available in the Ascent Viewer. Also, the Ascent Viewer complies with Linden Lab’s Third Party Viewer Policy and it is listed in Second Life’s Third Party Viewer Directory.

The Singularity Viewer thread in SLUniverse.com keeps on appearing every time I search for New Posts. It looks like Singularity Viewer is getting some following which is good because people should know that the Phoenix Viewer is not the only alternative Second Life viewer available to them. There are others and some are even better like this fork of the Ascent Viewer, the Singularity Viewer.
