The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, the renowned Lebanese American writer, is one of the classics and best-selling books of contemporary age. About nine million American editions have been published. This mastepiece by Gibran has been translated into more than twenty languages.The book includes 26 poetical and philosophical essays by Gibran. The basic idea of this Lebanese author is that life is transient, and we should enjoy it.

Kahlil Gibran criticizes idleness in these inspiring lines: “For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life’s procession, that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite. For if you bake bread with indifference, you bake a bitter bread that feeds but half man’s hunger”.

Dr. Joseph Habib rightly describes him ‘a nonpareil artist’.
