The last few months, I’ve reviewed some of legendary horror director Lucio Fulci’s last movies; movies I had heard of but never seen. But now I’ve watched a movie I’ve never even heard of. I had no idea that Fulci supervised (or something like that) a handful of direct-to-video movies (I believe there are five of them) in 1989; the “Lucio Fulci presenta” movies. Fulci “presents” the movies, his name is mentioned in the titles, but I’ve no idea what he had to do with them more than lending them his name.

Horror movies are something that I personally look forward to every year. I have to admit that some have not been quite as good in the recent years, but I still enjoy watching them. I have compiled a list of Horror movies that are scheduled to be released in 2011. I am actually happy with the list, and look forward to a lot of the 2011 horror movies. Some of the release dates may be different, but I am going to share as much information as I can about all of the horror films. Some will be released in theaters and others may be direct to DVD.

I was certain I had seen Lucio Fulci’s “Manhattan Baby”. I mean, it’s not a very rare film and it doesn’t belong to the obscure, barely released movies the Italian horror maestro made during the decade before he died in 1996. “Manhattan Baby” is from 1982, during the peak of Fulci’s career. He made the ultra nasty “The New York Ripper” the same year, and the year before, he had made “The Beyond” and “The House by the Cemetery”.

“A Cat in the Brain” (“Un gatto nel cervello”, and apparently also known as “Nightmare Concert”) is probably the most widely seen of Lucio Fulci’s last and rather obscure movies.

In the very early 1990s, I was involved with a little horror film club, and one of the movies we screened, was “A Cat in the Brain”, which back then was brand new. The movie had a reputation of being the most violent splatter movie ever made, some claimed that it goes too far and is just plain nasty.
