The book is a treatise on how to live in accord with the Tao, the source of all things. It is simple, yet profound, ancient wisdom that is as relevant today as when it was written. The Tao Te Ching is a philosophical text written by Lao-tzu, a philosopher and historian, during the time of Confucius. This text, written in two parts, with eighty-one short sections, serves as a philosophical guidepost. The term "Tao" means way or path. In many philosophical works, this term refers to a calling. In the Tao Te Ching, the term Tao refers to a much larger metaphysical principal, a universal oneness, from which all things come, and to which all things return. While "Tao", is a path, and a way, the meaning is much broader, encompassing and mysterious.

Cronicles of Tao is a great book. It is a biographical novel about a real life Taoist master Kwan Saihung, who eventually comes to America. Den Ming-Dao, the author was a student of Master Kwan and has written many books about Taoism, but this is probably the most entertaning and insightful. One part Kane from Kung Fu and and one part Bruce Lee, it is full of taoist sages, kung fu fights, and mystical powers in exotic China. But all the people and places are real. The book brings to life the hidden and mysterious world of Taoism in a true story in the modern world.
