Looking for a great Texas Hill Country day trip? I recommend the LBJ National Historical Park in Johnson City. Visit the Welcome Center, which has exhibits, and excellent 30 minute films on President Johnson and Lady Bird. Across the street, take in a ranger guided tour of Johnson’s boyhood home. Next take a short drive to Stonewall, Texas to the LBJ State Park. This is the Johnson Ranch, and home of the “Texas White House”. Since Mrs. Johnson’s death, the house is open to visitors. Be sure to pay your respects at the family cemetery, near the house President Johnson was born in.
