Lucha Libre has a long tradition in Mexico.
The term Lucha Libre itself means "free fighting" or "free wrestling" and is used not only in Mexico, but in other Spanish speaking countries as well.
The masked wrestlers (Luchadors) have attained cult status here, showing up in TV shows (Middle Man, Angel) in cartoons (Mucha Lucha), movies (Nacho Libre) and even bands (Los Straitjackets) adopting their personas.

But of course not all of the Luchadoras there are from Mexico.
A lot of American and Canadian female wrestlers have a second home (and even a second career in some cases ) south of the border.
