"American Idol" fans who tuned into the Season ten finale on Wednesday, May 25, were slightly stunned to ascertain last season's winner Lee DeWyze sitting within the fifth row. In fact, DeWyze did not even receive an on-camera mention from Ryan Seacrest. (Cory, the show's emcee who keeps the group energized throughout the business breaks, did tell the group DeWyze was in attendance.)

After the finals yesterday, Lee DeWyze was announced the winnner Of the American Idol.

He performed Beautiful Day on the American Idol finale. Lee who was a paint store clerk had most of the incoming votes in his favour. Although Bowersox, who came second had higher marks from the judges was good , the judges preferred DeWyze's style'character and talent.

There’s a natural inclination to dislike anything to do with American Idol, the highly manufactured ratings behemoth that has done much to homogeonize the nation’s airwaves into one middle-of-the-road solo act after another.

But I admit that Lee DeWyze, crowned winner of Season 9 this week, seems like a nice guy. He took part in a media conference call on Friday afternoon, and he was polite and earnest about it all — almost too earnest, in that he tried so hard to answer every question that he went on and on and on in his responses.
