Two separate spaces make more sense if the house has two adult members, one or two working from home. The spouse who works from home can be very interested in making a professional boundary. You can even build a structure for shelter, like in a property for use as a professional space. You may kiss your spouse and kids goodbye every morning at the same time and show up for work in the garden. You can install air conditioning and all the comforts of a professional office. You may return home for lunch and at the appointed time at night, but may be considered out for the day. Having this limit, the space would be clearly defined and that it can fulfill its role of work. The spouse, on the other hand can use the joint office and personal business center of the house.
