The branch office manager is primarily accountable for the day-to-day operations of the business. This individual makes sure that everything runs smoothly within his division. He receives his instructions from the CEO or an upper manager of the organization and must carry out these orders effectively, reporting the accomplishments as well as any discrepancies within his branch. The branch manager will more than likely be the one who opens and closes the doors of the business during operating hours. He is a multi-tasker and rarely has time to take a break and sometimes lunch and is usually exhausted by the end of his shift. He or she is manages, trains, and assigns duties to the clerical staff and monitors the work flow ensuring that goals and objectives are met. The branch manger’s specific duties will vary depending upon the company in which he works for. Some duties and responsibilities of an office manager might entail; keeping track of expenses, ordering office supplies, performing accounts payable functions, auditing cash receipts, make purchasing decisions, make bank deposits, administer payroll, sign checks, maintain employees files, administer performance evaluations, handles difficult and irate customers, responding to the needs of clients, attending staff meetings, reprimands his staff, praises his staff, fires existing employee(s), and hires new employee(s). Might also delegate duties to reliable staff when overloaded with task. The office manager must be able to communicate with his employees, the internal client as well as the external customers effectively.
